Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider

The American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a variety of prehospital and in-facility settings.

This course teaches participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, provide high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and use an AED. The curriculum includes both single-rescuer and team-based CPR skills for adults, children, and infants, along with the relief of choking and special considerations for healthcare environments.

Course Content Includes:

• High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
• The AHA Chain of Survival for in-hospital and out-of-hospital scenarios
• Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Effective ventilation using a barrier device and bag-mask device
• Team dynamics in multi-rescuer resuscitation
• Relief of choking in adults, children, and infants

Certification:
Upon successful completion of the course and skills testing, participants receive an American Heart Association BLS Provider eCard, valid for two years.
